FAQ
How long are therapy sessions?
Individual therapy sessions last for the therapeutic hour i.e. 50 minutes.
How frequent are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are usually held weekly. Once sufficient progress has been made, sessions can then be held perhaps fortnightly or at an agreed reduced frequency until therapy is complete.
How long does therapy last?
It is not possible to predict the length of therapy until an assessment has been held, and depends on the type of difficulty and its severity and also if the problem is a long-standing one. However a typical treatment course would be between 6 and 18 sessions.
Are sessions confidential?
Confidentiality will be maintained at all times. We will not disclose any information to a third party unless there is significant risk of harm either to yourself or to another person. If this was the case, we have a professional responsibility to inform the appropriate external agency e.g. your GP. In such cases, this would of course be discussed in session with yourself.
Sometimes, particularly if your therapy is being funded by an Insurance Company or is part of an ongoing legal claim, you may have an agreement with the Company or their legal representative that Liz Shipp Consultants provide a report on the treatment provided and your progress.
